World meeting of Families – August 2018

As a preparation for this meeting of families and as a help to all families, there is a card from St. Joseph’s Cluster with suggestions, it is available at the back of the church and will also be given out at the doors of the church.   Please take one and give it a try.

 

The Poor Clares in Galway are hosting a Cloister day on Saturday, Jan. 27th from 10am-5pm.  The day is designed to help young women between the ages of 21-40 to find out more about the Poor Clare way of life with a view to vocation discemment.   To book a place contact: St. Faustina at peeoclaresgalwayvocations@gmail.com

Catholic Schools Week begins Sunday 28th January.   The focus this year is on the family in preparation for the World Meeting of Families in Dublin 21-26th August.   Please God Pope Francis will be able to visit Ireland on this occasion.

 

Cluster Convenors Meeting: A meeting of the Cluster Convenors and representatives from the various clusters will take place in Knock House Hotel on Wednesday January 31st @ 8pm.   As we approach the conclusion of the 2013-2020 plan it is now envisaged that we begin to look at planning for the years after 2020.

 

Specially Commissioned WMOF 2018 Icon of the Holy Family: The Icon of the Holy Family was written by iconogrqapher Mihai Cucu, assisted by the Redemptoristine Sisters of the Monastery of St. Alphonsus, Dublin, as part of their ongoing prayers for families.  This Icon takes the form of a triuptych which looks somewhat like a house with front doors.  On these doors, we are presented with Archangels Michael and Gabriel, who carry with them the desire of God to protect.   Their heads are bowed in adoration and service to God.  On the base is an inscription “Amoris Laetitia”, “The Joy of Love, the title of Pope Francis’ exhortation on love in the family.

 

Mental Health Services: Money is now available to improve mental health services.   The HSE would like to invite all people who are using or have used mental health services, staff and family members/supporters to a public meeting in The Connaught Hotel, Galway.
