Co. Roscommon Disability Support Group CLG will hold their annual Church Gate Collection for Ballinlough/Cloonfad/Granlahan the week-end of 18^th/19th Aug .
Granlahan Sports Committee are holding a sports meeting Tue. 24^th July @ 9.30 in the community centre. Annual sports takes place 29^th July @ 2.30
Reek Sunday is 29^th July. Confessions 7.30am. – 2pm. on mountain top. Mass will be celebrated on the hour from 8am. to 2pm.

Tochar Phadraig Pilgrim walk from Ballintubber Abbey takes place on Reek Sunday 29^th July departing the Abbey at 8.30am. A unique pilgrim journey with a difference. Walk in the footprints of St. Patrick along the once royal chariot road. A back-up car will accompany the walkers. Ballintubber Abbey Office 094 9030934.

The new Mass times schedule for August, September, October and November will come into affect on the first weekend in August.

Times of masses for the first week-end in August only:

Cloonfad cemetery mass: Saturday 4^th August @ 7pm.

Ballinlough: Sunday 5^th August @ 11am.

Granlahan: Sunday 5^th August @ 12 noon.

Jesuit Week at Knock Shrine/ Preparing the way for Pope Francis: 24^th July – 01^st August.  Facilitated by Eddie Cosgrove SJ, Dermott Mansfield SJ, and Terry Howard SJ. Focusing on the world of ignatian spirituality as we prepare for the visit of Pope Francis to Ireland. There will be 20 min talks on ignatian spirituality daily @ 11.05am and 7.05pm. Guided prayer will take place each morning, afternoon and evening.  These sessions will take place in the prayer guidance centre with mass at 3pm in the Basilica. Transport for Papal visit to Knock Shrine: The Papal visit to Knock shrine takes place Sunday 26^th August. People travelling by bus will get nearer to the Shrine than those travelling by car. All parishes are advised to organise buses where possible. If there are not sufficient numbers in a Parish to fill a bus, it is advisable to link up with neighbouring Parishes. Further information on parking will be available at the end of the month.

World Meeting of Families 26^th Aug 2018: Pope Francis begins by urging married couples to “cultivate patience”. Otherwise the Pope suggests we end up “Incapable of living together, antisocial, unable to control our impulses, and our families will become battlegrounds”.  Forgiveness also plays a key role in healthy relationships the pope suggests. “Today we recognise that being able to forgive others implies the liberating experience of understanding and forgiving ourselves”. He goes on to state, in family life “we need to cultivate the strength of love, which can help us fight every evil threatening it”. “Love does not yield to resentment, scorn for others or the desire to hurt or gain some advantage. The Christian ideal, especially in families is love that never gives up”. A love that is weak or infirm, incapable of accepting marriage as a challenge to be taken up and fought for, reborn, renewed, and reinvented until death, “cannot sustain a great commitment” according to the Pontiff.
