New Years Greetings

I wish to extend New Year’s greeting and good wishes for 2018 to you all.   I hope the year ahead will bring you health and happiness and I pray God’s blessings on all your work and undertakings.   May God guide and direct all our efforts during the New Year.   I pray God’s Blessings on all families and I pray especially for children in examination classes and those who are seeking employment; may you all be successful in your endeavours.   I welcome all who have recently come into our community.  I wish those people and their families happiness and success in our parish.   With God’s help and guidance may the year ahead be a good year for us all.     Fr. Saturday 6th January is The Feast of the Epiphany of the Lord. It is a holy day of obligation.  

 

Many thanks to all the people, children, young and old who helped with the Christmas ceremonies: thanks to the many people who attended, to all the people who took part in the ceremonies, the people who prepared the churches and decorated them so beautifully, inside and out.   It wouldn’t be possible to continue without your generous help.   May the Lord’s Blessing be on the parish community and on all who prayed and helped during the year.

Care of the Churches: Ballinlough. Thanks to the people of Town south who took care of the flowers during the month of December.   Would the people of Town North and the Avenue look after them during the month of January.

 

Catholic Schools Week begins Sunday 28th January.   The focus this year is on the family in preparation for the World Meeting of Families in Dublin 21-26th August.   Please God Pope Francis will be able to visit Ireland on this occasion.

 

New Years’s Day Fun Run in aid of Jack & Jill Playschool will be held on Monday January 1st 2018 @ 1.30pm in Ballinlough.   Registration from 12.30pm in Parochial Hall.   Entry fee: Child €5, adult: €10, family €20.   Spot prizes on the day.   All are welcome after in Parochial Hall for refreshments.   Many thank for your continued support.  An ideal way to kick-start your New Year resolution!

 

New Year’s Day Mass:  St. Joseph Cluster.   There will be a special New Year’s Day Mass for all the parishes/church area in St. Patrick’s church, Ballyhaunis @ 12 noon on January 1st 2018.  This is the fourth year of this event and as on previous occasions representatives from each of the parishes/church areas will take part in the Mass.  The theme of the Mass will be “The World Meeting of Families 2018”. The combined choirs of the Cluster will provide the music and singing at the Mass. All are welcome. A collection will be taken up at the Mass, the proceeds of which will go towards defraying costs of various e vents organised by the St. Joseph Cluster.

 

Enrolment Night: Carrick NS will host an enrolment on Thursday 18th Jan. @ 7pm for parents hoping to enrol a child in Junior infants in Sept. 2018.   All new parents are welcome to attend on the night.   This will be an opportunity to meet the teachers, see our school and collect school enrolment pack. Enrolment forms will be available from the school throughout. the month of January.

 

Race Night:  The Michael Glavey’s Intermediate team fundraising race night is to be held on Saturday 13th January in Campbell’s Lounge, Ballinlough.   Your support would be greatly appreciated to help defray club expenses in the team’s venture in the All Ireland semi-final and hopefully beyond!  A great night guaranteed.   All cards, sponsor lists and monies to be returned to Club as soon as possible please.   Many thanks.
