St. Patrick’s Day – Next Friday is the Feast day of St. Patrick, Principal Patron Saint of Ireland. It is a holy day of obligation. Mass times:-
Ballinlough Thursday 16th March 8pm,
Cloonfad Friday 1
7th March 10.30am and Granlahan Friday 17th March at 12 noon.

Many thanks to all who contributed to last weekend’s church gate collection in aid of Special Olympics. €233.43 was raised. This money will be used towards the provision of games and social events for Special Olympics athletes.

Confirmation Rehearsal – A rehearsal in preparation for the celebration of the Sacrament of Confirmation will be held in Ballinlough Church Monday 20th March at 7pm. All the children being confirmed and their sponsors are requested to attend.

La Fhéile Pádraig. The children from Granlahan NS will play traditional Irish music at the 12 noon mass in Granlahan on St. Patrick’s Day. We extend a “Céad Míle Fáilte” to all who will join us in this celebration of our National Feast Day.

An Evening to be Irish – The Time Out Café, Ballinlough will host an evening of ceol agus craic on St. Patrick’s day starting at 6.30pm. Join us in a celebration of what we do best, having the craic! Everyone who can play an instrument, sing a song or dance is invited to come along. More information from Mary on 087 945 3043.

Granlahan NS is now taking enrolments for next September’s Junior Infant class. Enrolment forms are available at at the school.

Granlahan Fóroige club are participating in 12 noon mass on this Sunday 12th March and are hosting a community get together and cake sale, with refreshments served and music afterwards in Granlahan community centre.  Come along and join in the community spirit.

Granlahan Fóroige will host their annual fundraising 25 card drive in Granlahan community centre on Monday 13th March at 8.30pm. Tickets €5. Refreshments and raffle on the night. Please support.

The Archdiocese of Tuam is now accepting applications from married and single men who may feel called to ministry as Permanent Deacons. The 4 year part time training programme begins Autumn 17. Public meeting to discuss the closure of Castlerea Fire Service will be held in the GAA O’Rourke Centre, Castlerea on Tuesday 14th March at 8pm. All are welcome.

Monthly monster bingo continues Sunday 12th March at 4pm in Dunmore community centre with total prize fund of  €1150. Refreshments served. Proceeds towards upkeep of town hall.

Westport Pro Life follow up talk and training with Kate Bopp, Paddy Manning, and Michael Dwyer of Family & Life on Thursday March 16th at the Castlecourt Hotel, Westport at 7.30pm in the Ashleigh suite. All welcome.

Tales of  St. Patrick – Award winning storyteller Rob Fulton performs a wonderful free family event at the National Museum of Ireland, Turlough Park, Castlebar on Sat March 18th, 11.30-12.30 and 2-3pm. Admission is free but booking required on 094 90 31751 or educationtph@museum.ie.
