In the absence of a priest for week-end Mass: This can happen that a priest is not available for different reasons.

  1. The local priest may be unwell and unable to get a replacement.
  2. The replacement priest may forget that he has taken on the duty of saying a particular mass.
  3. As priests become fewer it will become more difficult for every church to have a week-end mass in years to come.

So in the absence of a priest: Check the Notice Board to see where and what time a local mass is being said.

A document has been prepared to assist a community to conduct a liturgy in the absence of a priest. Volunteers are required to conduct this liturgy. There will be a short training session in St Patricks Church, Ballyhaunis on Wednesday 21st June @ 8pm for these volunteers.
